Introduction

In Bohnanza, players are farmers planting beans in their fields. Through proper timing of trading and harvesting the beans and their stocks, they aim to be the most profitable farmer. The player with the most coins at the end of the game wins.

Set Up

Card adjustment for different player numbers

• 3 players - Remove Cocoa, start with 3 fields, ends after deck 2
• 4 or 5 players - remove Coffee
• 6 or 7 - remove Cocoa and Garden, dealer deals 3 to first player, 4 to 2nd, 5 to 3rd, 6 to all others. Draw 4 cards instead of 3 in step 4. 3rd bean field costs 2 coins

Bean frequencies

• 24 Coffee beans
• 22 Wax beans
• 20 Blue beans
• 18 Chili beans
• 16 Stink beans
• 14 Green beans
• 12 Soy beans
• 10 Black eyed beans
• 8 Red beans
• 6 Garden beans
• 4 Cocoa beans

• Deal 5 cards to each player
• Place deck, 3rd bean fields in middle of the table
• Pick starting player

IMPORTANT: Players may never change the order of their hand.

 Gameplay

Each player has 2 bean fields to work with. Players may buy a third bean field for three coins at any time. On a turn, players will do the following 4 actions. At any time, players may harvest their bean field to gain coins.

1. Plant bean cards from the hand

Player must plant the first card, and may plant the second from the front of the hand. Beans has to be planted in an epty field or matches the previous bean in the field. If no match, player must harvest a field.

2. Market

Player draws two cards from the market and place face up in middle of table. These are the player's responsibility to get rid of. Player may

• Plant it themself
• Trade it away
• Donate them
3. Plant traded beans

All traded and received beans must be planted. Order does not matter. Players may need to harvest fields to plant new beans.

4. Draw 3 cards

Draw 3 cards one at a time and place them in the back of the hand

When the deck runs out, reshuffle the discard pile to create a new deck.

Harvesting beans

Players may harvest any time. Look at bottom of bean card to see how many cards to flip over as coins when a certain number of beans are traded in. Coins are kept with the player and the other bean cards are placed in discard pile. Player must choose a field with 2 or more beans to harvest unless both fields have only 1 bean each.

 End Game

The game ends when the deck runs out 3 times. The current round finishes (possible for only one card in market). The player with the most gold coins wins. Ties broken by most cards in hand.
